EDAX, Inc.ume Analyzer (WFA) enables dynamic monitoring of changes in metallic content of fumes present in the waste duct of pyrometallurgical processes for optimizing BOF steel making on-line. The analyzer measures the intensities of the selected elements and transmits element specific data to the plant computer. Adding fume flow rate data, the Analyzer directly measures the effects of changing waste fume concentrations, with the ultimate objectives of:
- Reducing fume losses and minimizing waste
- Optimizing converter processes and practice
- Increasing the efficiency of the waste-gas cleaning system
- Reducing levels of emissions to the atmosphere
With on-line fume monitoring, the most efficient waste treatment methods can be utilized to reduce energy consumption. So users can save materials., energy and money and lower recovery costs. Users may also improve your environmental compliance and realize substantial benefits from minimizing iron and zinc in air emissions and waste systems.
Benefits of Waste Fume Analysis
- Potential to reduce process yield losses via:
- The optimization of flux and ore addition practices
- Lance tip design and/or oxygen flow optimization
- Measurement of loading on waste-gas cleaning plant
- Possibility of assessing flux quality
- Environmental considerations:
- Assessment of efficiency of waste oxide briquette (WOB) recycling
- Control mechanism for zinc-rich slurry diversion leading to reduced landfill costs
