Vespel is a polyimide material manufactured only by DuPont. Vespel is one of the highest performing engineering plastics currently available. Vespel will not melt and can operate continuously from cryogenic temperatures to 550°F (288°C), with excursions to 900°F (482°C). Vespel parts consistently exhibit superior performance in a variety of applications requiring low wear and long life in severe environments.

Vespel features include excellent temperature resistance, high wear resistance (especially SP-21), dimensional stability, radiation resistance, extremely low outgassing, and good machinability. Vespel is typically used to manufacture rotary seal rings, thrust washers and discs, bushings, plungers, wear strips, and thermal and electrical insulators.

Vespel is available in sheets, discs, rods and tubes of various thicknesses and diameters. Vespel is manufactured as unfilled (SP-1), bearing (SP-21, SP-22, SP-211), lubricant-filled (SP-3), and other specialty grades.

Boedeker Plastics has a large inventory of high-performance and engineering plastics available for immediate shipment. See our website or call 1-800-444-3485 for more information!
