Uniphase Makes Two Executive Appointments

Uniphase Corp. (San Jose, Calif.) has promoted Dan Pettit to senior vice president, business planning and development, and appointed Anthony R. Muller senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Pettit's new responsibilities include: managing mergers and acquisitions, building new incubator businesses, guiding the development of newly acquired and developed businesses, and assisting in developing future strategy. Pettit has been with Uniphase for over eleven years and will continue to report directly to Kevin Kalkhoven, chairman and chief executive officer.

Muller was most recently senior vice president and chief financial officer of Micro Focus Group Plc. Prior to that he was senior vice president, operations and chief financial officer of Centigram Communications Corp. He has served on the Uniphase board of directors for fourteen years.

"These changes are an important step for Uniphase. Having Dan Pettit focus on our new business opportunities will give those opportunities the attention they need as we move into the future. Adding Tony Muller, who knows our industry and company so well and who has guided the financial success of other large high technology companies, will help our efforts to continue to grow Uniphase and maintain the strong financial standing that Uniphase has had from the beginning," said Kevin Kalkhoven, chairman and chief executive officer.

Uniphase Corp. is an optoelectronics company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets fiber optic telecommunications equipment products, laser subsystems and laser-based semiconductor wafer defect examination and analysis equipment.
