TechnoConcepts Chooses Jazz Semiconductor For Chip Fabrication

Van Nuys, CA -- TechnoConcepts, Inc. announced that it has selected Jazz Semiconductor, an independent wafer foundry located in Newport Beach, California, to fabricate True Software Radio chips.

Antonio Turgeon, chairman of TechnoConcepts, made the announcement noting: "We anticipate the first engineering run of our chips to be complete, with samples available in Summer 2006. This will set the stage for the first full production run for delivery to customers in late 2006 or early 2007."

"Jazz currently offers successive generations of its SiGe BiCMOS process, which supports the features that will facilitate TechnoConcepts' innovative designs as we focus on capturing market share in our next generation products," said Turgeon. Specifically, we will see significant power savings using the Jazz process since ninety-five percent (95%) of the chip will be fabricated in low-power CMOS and only five percent (5%) will utilize the high-performance SiGe, both available on the Jazz SiGe BiCMOS platform process."

TechnoConcepts' True Software Radio is a wireless transmitter/receiver technology that can operate continuously across different frequency bands, controlled entirely by software. With True Software Radio technology, the flexibility to communicate with and among otherwise incompatible wireless devices can be virtually unlimited.

"Jazz is pleased to partner with companies such as TechnoConcepts in introducing innovative products like True Software Radio(R)," said Marco Racanelli, vice president of technology and engineering, Jazz Semiconductor. "Our process platforms are customizable and can be optimized to leverage the power efficiencies of low power CMOS while enjoying the benefits of high speed, low noise SiGe in a single process technology. These features have been utilized by TechnoConcepts to improve the way wireless signals are transmitted, received and processed."
