Taiwanese LED Chip Maker AET Selects Thomas Swan CCS System
AET will add the new Thomas Swan CCSTM system to their production plant for Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based ultra high brightness (UHB) LEDs located at Hsinchu's industrial park in Taiwan.
Dr. Bernd Schulte, Executive Vice President of AIXTRON AG comments: "As confirmed by this repeat order from Advanced Epitaxy, our CCSTM technology provides customers with unparalleled advantages for high volume GaN LED production. Recognizing this rapid return to investing in our CCSTM technology, we are delighted that AET is moving forward with expanding their GaN LED manufacturing capacities with CCSTM technology."
Stephen Hsue, President of AET adds: "The encouraging results from our previously qualified reactor resulted in our decision to place a repeat order for another Thomas Swan 19x2" MOCVD reactor. The new Thomas Swan CCSTM reactor provides us not only with a significant increase of our production capacity, but also offers an immense improvement with regard to throughput and production yield. In the currently very competitive market situation, we will gain a significant push for our performance whilst significantly reducing our operating costs."
With the inherent technological advantages over competing technologies, the Close Coupled Showerhead Technology provides the lowest cost per wafer in the industry. It combines unrivalled process stability and performance with the easy handling inherent in the unique CCSTM principle. Fully configured as a GaN HB-LED production tool, the CCSTM system provides exceptional uniformity of thickness, doping, and composition within epitaxial layers.
