SSEC Digital Sealing Technology Lowers Costs for One-Shot Welding

Source: Solid State Equipment Corporation

Applying digital technology to one-shot welding for sealing TO and related package types, Solid State Equipment Corporation has increased seal yield and lowered costs with the Model NTe one-shot welder. A PC controlled power supply and one-up seal tooling characterize this new tool, designed for precision and production capability and quality. The Model NTe welder produces high sealing energy in a system that fits in any standard environmental system. For higher volume production, with sealing volume over 600 units per hour, an available field upgrade includes a four-station rotary table with automatic package ejection.

With vacuum-capable tooling and quick-twist electrode changeover, this single-station system provides basic production capability. The compact power supply produces over 5,000 joules of sealing energy from a single 208 volt, 15 amp, single phase service. Power is regulated by a dedicated microprocessor to ± 0.5% over a 190-240 VAC input range. The PC controls weld head parameters and squeeze pressure.

Solid State Equipment Corporation manufactures a full line of single wafer cleaners/processors and hermetic package sealers at its headquarters in suburban Philadelphia. These systems are complemented with application-specific components and supporting systems, including chemistry management systems and environmental systems for sealers. SSEC maintains sales and service offices worldwide, and customer support and process development centers in Horsham, Pennsylvania, Fremont, California, Regensburg, Germany, and Tokyo, Japan.
