Semtech's BlueRiver Enables New SDVoE-Equipped Projector For Demanding AV Environments

Christie’s Griffyn 4K32-RGB delivers a blur-free experience for theme parks, indoor and outdoor sports venues

Semtech Corporation, a leading supplier of high performance analog and mixed signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, announced that Christie a global leader in next-generation AV technologies, has built its new Griffyn 4K32-RGB omnidirectional projector with Semtech’s BlueRiver technology for Software Defined Video Over Ethernet (SDVoE). The projector delivers a blur-free experience for theme parks, indoor and outdoor sports venues and other demanding AV environments, while providing unrestricted connectivity to eliminate the use of removable option cards.

“By integrating the advanced AV processing capabilities of Semtech’s BlueRiver technology in the SDVoE system, Christie was able to enhance the functionality of the Griffyn 4K32-RGB to provide the customer with exceptional color and superior video processing over standard Ethernet,” said Brad Martin, Senior Product Manager at Christie. “The Griffyn 4K32-RGB allows customers to deliver colorful new experiences to their audiences and raises the bar for RGB pure laser projection. The Christie line of 3DLP projectors are market leaders in illumination and functionality, and strengthen the SDVoE ecosystem’s comprehensive product portfolio.”

The Griffyn 4K32-RGB is Christie’s first projector with a standard SDVoE, (BlueRiver technology) input, offering new digital convergence with the ability to select red, green or blue individually. This color enhancement provides a richer and more memorable audience experience. The device also leverages BlueRiver’s capabilities to replace matrix-based switching with Ethernet without compromising latency or video quality. This enables the Griffyn 4K32-RGB to offer optional high frame rate (HFR) capabilities that achieve 120Hz at 4K resolution or up to 480Hz with HD resolution for lifelike picture quality.

“Christie’s projector serves as a strong example of the innovation and flexibility of products possible through SDVoE-based networking,” said Don Shaver, Vice President of Video Products for Semtech’s Signal Integrity Products Group. “By utilizing BlueRiver technology in the SDVoE platform, customers leverage the advantages of Ethernet-based AV communication to create products with lower latency, stronger performance and scalability than legacy matrix switch systems.”
