Automated Equipment and Process Monitoring Solutions for Semiconductor and Optical Components

SELA, founded in 1992, currently develops, manufactures and markets automated SEM and TEM sample preparation equipment primarily for the semiconductor industry. SELA's proprietary Microcleaving technology enables fast, dry, clean and artifact-free sample preparation from wafers with a feature location accuracy of less than 0.5 microns.

Microcleaving offers the semiconductor industry cost and time saving in process control, failure analysis and R&D defect analysis turn-around time. Preparation artifacts are eliminated, SEM sample and TEM sample preparation times are greatly reduced and section placement accuracy enhanced.

Over 180 SELA Microcleaving Systems are currently in operation worldwide. Customers include major semiconductor manufacturers like Motorola, Hewlett-Packard (Agilent), ST, National, Intel, Samsung and TSMC. With a repeat order rate of over 50% and the prestigious Editors' Choice Best Product Award of 1998 of Semiconductor International to its credit, SELA has set an industrial standard.

Automating Laser Manufacturing Process utilizing SELA Technologies

After performing a market research, SELA personnel determined that several manufacturing elements in the production of lasers from processed wafers could be improved by applying SELA Microcleaving technology. These include cleaving yield, quality and location accuracy and automation of the entire process.

Building on its expertise in designing sample preparation equipment, the company is developing enabling equipment to automate the processing and inspection of lasers. The OptoCleave system automates process steps that prepare ready for coating bars from whole wafers. SELA has demonstrated that Automated Microcleaving can successfully replace time consuming and labor-intensive manual cleaving techniques currently in use. SELA's cleaving technology has been tested and validated by major laser manufacturers.

SELA, a privately held company based in Israel with a wholly owned subsidiary, SELA USA, located in Sunnyvale, CA., maintains a global network of offices and distributors to provide support and service to its customers. Distributors are located in Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Scotland, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
