Purafilter
Purafil, Inc. (Atlanta, GA), the leading manufacturer of gas-phase air filtration media and systems, and AQF Technologies, LLC, (Charlotte, NC), a wholly owned subsidiary of BBA Group PLC (London), announce the introduction of a new chemical filtration material. The result of a two-year joint research and development effort, the new Purafilter will be marketed exclusively by Purafil as a second-generation of their existing Purafilter product line and manufactured exclusively by AQF Technologies. The Purafilter, available in a variety of sizes and depths, is designed for retrofit within makeup air handling units, recirculation air handling units, and fan filter units.
The new filter material suspends Purafil Select potassium permanganate media particles in AQF's bicomponent fiber matrix without the use of adhesives. As a result, the new Purafilter is superior to other filtration material available in terms of its efficiency and gas removal capacity. A layer of particulate filtration can also be added, creating a single filter that offers control of both gaseous and particulate contaminants.
"We are positive that the capabilities of the new Purafilter material will open doors for Purafil in the semiconductor marketplace and in a number of new markets as well. The material is unique in its media loading capacity. It is stiff, robust, pleats well, and has a low pressure drop — a significant advantage in clean room applications," states David Nicholas, VP Sales and Marketing, Purafil, Inc.
By utilizing potassium permanganate, the new Purafilter material achieves capacities up to ten times that of activated-carbon-type filters. Multiple chemical filtration media can be added to the matrix to achieve the broadest range of gas-phase contaminant removal. For demanding gas-phase challenges in semiconductor clean rooms, this filter material offers the capacity, efficiency, and broad range removal requirements needed for fan filter units, as well as outside air and recirculation air applications.
Purafil is the world's leading producer of gas-phase air filtration products that eliminate gaseous contaminants from the air. Purafil systems are widely used in the semiconductor marketplace to control airborne molecular contamination. In addition, Purafil products remove unwanted odors and improve indoor air quality, protect priceless artifacts in museum and archives, control sewage odors in wastewater systems, and prevent corrosion of electronics in industrial applications.
