OSRAM Leading The Way In LED Innovations At LEDs 2007

San Diego, CA - OSRAM, one of the world's two leading lighting manufacturers, will be presenting new LED technological innovations in general, automotive, portable and projection lighting at IntertechPira's LEDs 2007 conference and exhibition, Oct. 24-26 at the Sheraton Hotel and Marina, San Diego, Calif. OSRAM is a leading sponsor of this key industry forum for new LED products and technology breakthroughs.
At Booth 43 in the Exhibit Hall, OSRAM will be demonstrating a range of new products utilizing OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' OSTAR LED high-brightness, Thinfilm/ThinGaN, multi-chip on-board technology. Products shown will include a Cobra Head LED Street Light replacement, new compact white and amber floodlights, and mini-spotlights designed for track lighting and spot lighting applications powered by low voltage supplies. A new compact retrofit lamp for standard MR16 fixtures and sockets for use with tracks, rails, cables and pendants in interior architectural, retail, exhibit, display and residential applications will also be on display.
OSRAM will also be demonstrating new products utilizing OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' Golden DRAGON high performance LEDs that utilize the latest Thinfilm/ThinGaN technologies to emit maximum light from the smallest possible source. These will include a Low Bay Parking Garage Luminaire, an amber floodlight (or "turtle light") designed for use in illuminating outdoor locations, and OSRAM SYLVANIA's DOTit Golden DRAGON light, which features a high powered OSRAM Opto Semiconductor Golden DRAGON LED to provide 30 times more light and cover eight times more area than a typical push on light.
In addition to the above, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors will also demonstrate LED products for projection, automotive lighting and portable lighting applications.
OSRAM SYLVANIA'S LED Systems group will be displaying new innovative solutions for retail display, general illumination and flood lighting.
The new INSPIRELED LED module provides a unique solution for retail display items of different colors shown side by side, and can be specified as an alternative to fluorescents or low voltage halogens in applications such as shelf lighting and display cases. By combining warm white and soft white LEDs in a single module, all display items – regardless of color – are vividly rendered. The module contains 12 white LEDs of alternating color temperature (3300K and 4700K) on an 11.5" metal core board with 6-inch wires at each end. In addition to excellent color rendering, the directional nature of the LEDs contributes to merchandise sparkle and appeal.
New LINEARlight MULTI FLEX LED modules offer exciting new possibilities for general illumination applications. They are ideal for edge lighting transparent and diffuse material, provide an optimal solution for precise backlighting of complex contours, and can also be used for lifesaving/rescue sign lights, commercial signs, and for marking contour-like escape routes, borders and stairs. They come in three color temperatures, are totally encapsulated and have a service life of 50,000 hours. For a complete system solution, OSRAM SYLVANIA provides OPTOTRONIC power supplies, which are specially designed to operate the LINEARlight MULTI FLEX modules.
Also on display will be the HF2 Flood LED modules, which were developed using a single high performance OSRAM OSTAR LED. They are more efficient than incandescent or halogen light sources with a similar luminous intensity, providing up to 700 candelas for white light. They offer a sleek, innovative design for compact fixtures, are RoHS-compliant, and provide dimmable hi-flux light sources with onboard optics for spot lighting applications.
Attendees at LEDs 2007 will be welcomed by Conference Co-Chair Dr. Klaus Streubel, senior director of R&D, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. Two other OSRAM representatives will give technical presentations at the conference. OSRAM Opto Semiconductors Product Development Manager, Stefan Groetsch, will address "High Brightness Multichip LED Products for Light Engines." The second presentation, "The Beginning of a Transformation – How LEDs are Starting to Re-Shape General Illumination Applications," will be delivered by Sameer Sodhi, OSRAM SYLVANIA LED Systems general manager.
