MKS Introduces Serial Gateways for DeviceNet and Profibus Applications
MKS, D.I.P.™ Products today introduced two new serial gateway devices for DeviceNet and Profibus communications links. The new products, designated the CDN366 DeviceNet Serial Gateway and the PFB366 Profibus Serial Gateway, provide a simple interface connection between any serial device and disk drives, modems, bar code readers, vision systems, or other data-generating systems via DeviceNet or Profibus communication buses. These new products are an addition to the established D.I.P. line of serial gateways and are the first product from the newly established MKS D.I.P. Products Group, located in Riverside, CA.
The CDN366 is a compact RS232 to DeviceNet serial gateway that provides a fully isolated DeviceNet channel with a selectable transmission rate from 300 to 57,600 kbaud. It may be used to interface peripheral devices to a DeviceNet system. The RS232 stream is internally buffered, allowing a master node to send and receive data using standard DeviceNet messaging protocols and supports POLL and EXPLICIT messaging. Both hardware and software flow control are supported.
