Meller Optics Launches New Line Of Custom Sapphire Optics

According to Meller, the Custom Sapphire Optics are ideally suited for applications in all types of critical instruments because they are nearly durable as diamond (Moh 9 hardness), chemically inert, and transmit from the UV through 4.7µm. Featuring tolerances to ±0.0005" on diameter and thickness and ±0.001" on length and width, depending upon configuration, they can incorporate steps, wedges, precise mounting holes, and meet other special design requirements.
Available with A/R and reflective coatings, Meller Custom Sapphire Optics have surface finishes to 20-5 scratch-dig, flatness to 1/4 wave, and parallelism to 2 arc-sec. Capable of transmitting up to 85% uncoated and up to >99% with coatings, depending upon thickness, applications include laser optics, blood gas monitors, centrifuges, and related instruments.
