Lubrication-Free Linear Bearings

The company offers the industry's first lubrication-free recirculating linear bearing.
The company offers the industry's first lubrication-free recirculating linear bearing. The new SKC bearing can be used in the most delicate vacuum and clean room environments yet is robust enough to provide years of worry-free operation.

The company has eliminated the need for grease or other lubricants through an innovative bearing design featuring alternating ceramic and Teflon rolling elements. The ceramic bearings carry the load while smaller diameter Teflon balls act as separators. This separation reduces the rotational friction that might otherwise occur when load-carrying balls come into contact with each other. The result is smooth, consistent linear motion without messy lubrication.

The robust housing is fabricated from stainless steel and coated with thin dense chrome. Unlike traditional cross-roller linear bearing assemblies, the SKC's recirculation path design allows unlimited linear movement. The units can also be mounted any direction- vertically, horizontally, or upside down and are engineered to ensure that the bearings will not fall out in even the most extreme assembly conditions. Two threaded and counter-bored mounting holes simplify assembly and a large-back surface area facilitates preloading against a linear guideway.

The SKC combines with the company's Type R or RD linear guideways to produce the only bearing set that delivers consistent, high-precision positioning for light- to medium-duty applications. This makes it especially suitable for clean room and vacuum applications in the semiconductor, medical, pharmaceutical, analytical, and scientific industries.

The SKC is offered in two different sizes- SKC3075 (utilizing a 3mm ceramic ball bearing), and SKC6100 (utilizing a 6mm ceramic ball bearing).
