LatticeX And Zero-G Announce Strategic Partnership To Launch Zero-G Materials Inc., A Microgravity-Based Semiconductor Venture

LatticeX and Zero-G have formed a strategic partnership to launch Zero-G Materials Inc., a new venture focused on developing semiconductors using microgravity-based manufacturing technology.

Santa Fe, NM /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ - LatticeX, a Cottonwood Venture company, and Zero-G, the world leader in parabolic flights, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to form a joint venture, Zero-G Materials Inc., aimed at transforming the power electronics industry through microgravity-enabled manufacturing of wide band gap (WBG) semiconductor materials.

Zero-G Materials Inc. will focus on delivering the highest quality WBG semiconductor wafers, enabling the next generation of high-performance, high-yield power electronic devices. These advanced materials are critical to fast-growing sectors such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, and telecommunications.

LatticeX brings to the venture its proprietary and patented microgravity annealing technology, which significantly improves the thermal and yield performance of WBG materials. Traditional manufacturing on Earth introduces bulk defects due to gravitational forces; LatticeX's microgravity-based process eliminates these defects, enhancing the value of low-grade silicon carbide wafers by more than 10 times.

Zero-G contributes deep expertise and intellectual property in creating and operating microgravity environments for commercial applications. The company has a proven track record in enabling breakthrough research and novel experiences in microgravity, making it an ideal partner to operationalize space-based manufacturing.

"We believe this partnership will set a new standard in semiconductor quality and performance," said Tyler Craig, Chairman of LatticeX. "By leveraging microgravity, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible in materials science."

Zero-G CEO Kevin Sproge said, "Microgravity manufacturing has shown tremendous promise to create novel and better materials, especially in the areas of semiconductors. Zero-G has the ability to make microgravity manufacturing at scale a reality today at a cost orders of magnitude less than on-orbit applications."

Matt Gohd, Chairman, "We are excited to start this path with LatticeX to transform the semiconductor industry and with it Zero Gravity Manufacturing. There is more to come."
