Hitachi S-2600 SEM

Source: Hitachi Scientific Instruments
Priced significantly lower than any electron microscope previously offered by Hitachi's Scientific Instrument Division, the new S2600 SEM brings high-performance microscopy within reach of organizations typically finding such instruments cost-prohibitive.
Compact, easily installed and highly mobile, the S-2600 incorporates features comparable to high-level units. Among them are fully automated functions, like filament saturation, stigmation, focus, contrast, and brightness. In addition to eliminating any need to align final aperture, the S-2600 provides superior low-voltage performance and a high S/N ration for rich image quality. Further, unlike similar instruments using backscattered electron (BSE) detectors limited to two operating modes, the S-2600 employs a BSE that operates in three modes--compositional, topographical and 3-D.

Of particular interest where the costs and time associated with operator training and instrument maintenance are considerations is the S-2600's distinctive simplicity of operation. The familiar Windows™ NT operating system is overlaid with a unique "tab"-based GUI. Clicking the appropriate tab for any desired function automatically generates on-screen menus associated with that function. A click of the "Help" tab, for example, generates an animated on-screen video that clearly demonstrates proper maintenance procedures, reducing potential for error and possible instrument contamination.

Ideal for a wide variety of organizations ranging from educational institutions, service labs and museums to pharmaceutical and cosmetic manufacturers, the S-2600 is available in both conventional high-vacuum and popular variable-pressure versions. Options include Hitachi's Passive Capture Imaging (PCI) system (PCI) for the capture, storage and manipulation of high-quality digitized images.
