Small and Flexible With Three Different Motor Technologies

As small as possible, but with the usual high performance. More than ever before, these are the specifications given when developing new devices. Either there are space restrictions that demand very high packaging density in a given volume, or it is absolutely essential to minimize weight. Another argument in favor of using miniature motors is that small drives require less input power at the same output power rating. To meet the requirement of a concept that is independent of the required drive type, the FAULHABER Group developed a family of motors with an outer diameter of 6 mm. From brush type DC-Micromotors with precious metal commutators, to a Stepper Motor, right through to a Brushless DC-Servomotor with integrated Encoder and corresponding Gearheads, a suitable microdrive is available for practically any application. The Drive electronics are separate.

Classic construction
The 6 mm family consists of three different motor concepts. Conventional miniature DC-Micromotors such as the 0615 ... S series are still the best bet for some applications, even in this age of high-tech microelectronics. Equipped with neodymium magnets and an ironless rotor, they are the perfect solution for highly dynamic operation. Control simplicity is the main advantage of this type of motor. Its speed is proportional to voltage and can be easily and infinitely adjusted by means of a voltage setpoint. Another benefit of this type of motor is the ability to operate at very low voltage: 1.5 V, 3 V, or 4.5 V. Planetary Gearheads with reduction ratios from 4:1 to 4096:1 not only allow speed matching for the particular application but also increase torque up to 35 mNm.
