Cymer's New Tokyo Facility Sports Five Laser Bays

Cymer, Inc. recently announced it has expanded its Japanese sales and marketing operations to a new 14,000-square-foot facility in the greater Tokyo area. The recent addition to the Cymer Japan, Inc. organization will provide chipmakers and lithography manufacturers in this key region with service and spares, training and tech support.

According to Pascal Didier, Cymer's senior vice president of worldwide customer operations and president of Cymer Japan, the move to a larger facility is part of Cymer's ongoing effort to expand its global service and support infrastructure to further its worldwide market leadership position in the DUV laser market.

Cymer reports that it currently holds an installed base of over 160 systems in Japan alone, and over 330 systems throughout the Asian region.

The facility houses five laser bays, four of which provide hands-on training for Cymer's 4000 and 5000 Series lasers, including the newly-released ELS-5010 248nm krypton fluoride (KrF) laser. The training facility will also accommodate Cymer's 6000 Series laser to be introduced at SEMICON Japan in December. Training courses at the facility commenced in late August of this year.

Cymer, Inc. is the leading provider of excimer laser illumination sources for use in deep ultraviolet (DUV) photolithography systems targeted at the pilot and production segments of the semiconductor manufacturing market.
