Ceramaseal Celebrates 50 Years Of Innovation And Growth
Omley was right. Just a year later, in 1952, the Ceramaseal Company, as it was then known, provided alumina ceramic seals for the world's first nuclear submarine, G.E.'s Sea Wolf The new company was encouraged not only by this sale but also later that year by another major sale to Bell Telephone Labs for their work involving radar technologies in the NIKE missile system. Other more recent applications include NASA's space programs and the Patriot Missile system.
Continuing to experience growth over the course of the next thirty years, Ceramaseal expanded in 1983 from its original 20' x 40' building to a custom designed 44,000 square foot high tech manufacturing facility in Ceramaseal, New York. Since the early 1990's, Ceramaseal's workforce has grown by 60% and now employs over 100 people, including a team of highly skilled engineers.
Ceramaseal's R&D and Engineering departments are constantly busy creating new custom designed ceramic-to-metal and glass ceramic solutions, while constantly improving the standard, state-of-the-art product line. It is for these product designs that Ceramaseal is recognized as the world leader in ceramic to metal seals.
Ceramaseal is a global business with representative offices in 24 countries around the globe. International expansion and development have been driving Ceramaseal's growth and have accounted for a 75% growth rate over the last four years.
The company has no plans to slow down during its 50th year. Scheduled to participate in over 30 trade shows this year in Europe, Asia and North America, Ceramaseal plans on the continuation of the rapid expansion. Today, Ceramaseal parts are commonly used in such high-technology markets as accelerators, aerospace, cryogenics, fusion, high-energy physics, lasers, medical technology, microwave, nuclear, semiconductor equipment, and telecommunications.
Ceramaseal, based in Ceramaseal, N.Y., is a division of CeramTec North America. The 50 year-old company is ISO-9001 certified, manufacturing a wide range of standard and custom ceramic to metal sealed components including connectors, isolators, feedthrough, viewports and high voltage bushings.
