The company, a provider of film thickness metrology systems, offers a new customer support program that provides its customers the maximum flexibility in obtaining high-quality technical support and training for a low price. The Productivity Plus program allocates man hours by quarters, which customers can decide to use for preventive maintenance, emergency service, onsite technical training, on-site applications training, repair parts, or mutually agreed upon special projects.

Unlike the traditional service contract offered by many customer support groups, it may be utilized on any company tool within a fab and (if the customer desires) at any of the customers' sites. In addition to giving the customer more flexibility and a wider variety of services, it saves money because customers do not pay for services they don't use.

Briefly described, the annual program schedules each quarter's time allocation in advance and covers the activities planned for that quarter. The customer then consumes all hours by the end of the 12-calendar month term of agreement. Once the number of man-hours is determined, they can be utilized in any number of service activities. All the company systems at multiple customer locations can be covered by a single agreement.

Customers can also purchase worldwide support/training with Productivity Plus. All program customers may utilize the hours for off-shift and weekend work by applying the appropriate off-shift multiplier (1.5X weekdays or 2X weekends) to the effective hourly rate. The response time for off-shift coverage is negotiated on a case-by-case basis. The company will schedule the support/training time for 24 hours from authorized call out or a separately agreed upon schedule, whichever is earlier.
