STMicroelectronics High-Speed Ultrasound Pulser Available Now At Mouser Electronics

Mouser Electronics, Inc., is now shipping the STHV800 High Speed Ultrasound Pulser from STMicroelectronics. The STHV800 can operate at frequencies up to 20MHz and targets medical ultrasound transducer applications, as well as other piezoelectric, capacitive, and MEMS transducer applications.

The STMicroelectronics STHV800 High Speed Ultrasound Pulser, available from Mouser Electronics, is an eight-channel high-density ultrasound transmitter with two independent half-bridges per channel. The device includes a controller logic interface that is compatible with both 1.8V and 3.3V input logic levels and includes level translators, MOSFET gate drivers, and noise blocking diodes.

High power P-channel and N-channel MOSFETs serve as the output stage for each of the eight channels. These MOSFETs are capable of providing more than 2A of peak output current. In addition, the STHV800 includes self-biasing circuitry which allows for very low power consumption during the receive phase, as low as 200 µW total power dissipation. A dedicated eternal pin is used to provide thermal shutdown block sensing. One of the main benefits of the STHV800 is that it requires very few external components, requiring only decoupling capacitors on the high voltage and low voltage supplies, and a resistor to pull up the thermal shutdown block sensing (THSD) pin.

Applications for the STHV800 include medical ultrasound imaging, pulse waveform generator, NDT ultrasound transmission, piezoelectric transducer drivers, and MEMS transducer applications.
