Hynix Semiconductor Purchases Over 10 Nextest Magnum Systems

San Francisco -- Nextest Systems Corporation announced that Korean-based Hynix Semiconductor has purchased more than 10 Magnum 2560-pin test systems to test their NAND Flash in final production. The systems are being shipped to Hynix's manufacturing facility in Icheon, Korea.

Mr. Kaang Chil Lee, Director of Test for Hynix Semiconductor stated, "We selected Nextest's Magnum because of its ability to test 320 of our Flash devices in parallel on one test head. This helps us meet both our capacity and test cost requirements. Magnum provides us this capacity while saving 40% of the floor space over competitive systems."

Robin Adler, Nextest's Chief Executive Officer commented, "We are honored to have been selected by Hynix to deliver solutions that help them achieve their business objectives in this highly competitive Flash market. We are excited that Magnum has gained acceptance at such a highly recognized market leader."

Introduced at Semicon West last year, Magnum provides up to 5120 pins and 640 test sites. The system is designed for massively parallel test applications, providing IC manufacturers of consumer digital appliances an economic test advantage for high-volume production. The system's unique architecture eliminates much of the processing overhead, allowing it to simultaneously test hundreds of devices at once, without test-time penalties.
