In response to IC makers worldwide increasing their capital spending on CMP planarization systems, SpeedFam-IPEC Corp. (Chandler, AZ) expanded their CMP systems manufacturing at their headquarters.
According to market research, the market for CMP systems is expected to grow to $2.5 billion by 2004.
"This expansion is part of our continuing efforts to meet our customers' increasing demand for advanced CMP systems worldwide," said SpeedFam-IPEC's president and CEO, Richard Faubert.
The expansion began in the fourth quarter last year and was completed on schedule. It nearly doubled the company's space to 22,000 square feet.
SpeedFam-IPEC is a supplier of chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) systems used in the fabrication of next-generation semiconductor devices.
