LDK Solar Co., Ltd. Chooses Diamond Wire Technology's SR200 Filament Saws
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Diamond Wire Technology (DWT), the oldest manufacturer of diamond wire and diamond wire saws, announced today that LDK Solar Co., Ltd. ("LDK Solar") (NYSE: LDK), a leading manufacturer of solar wafers, has chosen Diamond Wire Technology's SR200 Filament Saws to be used in LDK Solar's new 15,000-tons-per-year polysilicon production plant in Xinyu City, China. In comparison to the traditional process of cutting with blades, the SR200 Filament Saw is capable of cutting up to 100% more filaments, with lower kerf, resulting in more material for use in the production of polysilicon rods.

Polysilicon is a highly purified form of silicon that is used to make both semiconductor wafers for microelectronics applications and solar wafers.
