Case Study: Semiconductor Fabrication Plant Features World's Largest Outdoor UPS System
Source: S&C Electric Company
In 1999, STMicroelectronics began researching power protection alternatives
that would ensure a reliable source of electrical service for a wafer fabrication facility. In the past, such facilities usually selected low-voltage solid-state or rotary UPS systems to protect the clean room production tools. But since such systems have only limited capacity, they are generally considered too costly to protect facilities on a much larger scale and to include ancillary critical systems such as cooling system chillers.
